The Roger Williams Dance Theatre will present its Spring concert series
May 6 thru 9 in the Performing Arts Center on the Bristol campus.
The concert will include choreography by guest artists, students and
faculty. Featured are three pieces choreographed by students Tara Burke, Jennifer Kaye and Lyndsey Stewart. Burke's piece entitled, Just...Play, is upbeat and playful. Kaye's piece, Dreams of Grace, focuses on friendships and relationships in relation to conditions of security and risk. Stewart's piece is a solo entitled, Going Home. Also featured is choreography by guest artists Chris Elam and Heidi Latsky. Elam's company, Misnomer Dance Theater, has performed at London Center Out-of-Doors, the Kaye Playhouse and the Huntington Arts Festival. He is a recipient of the New York International Fringe Festival's Excellence in Choreography Award, American Dance Festival Martha Myers Scholarship and a Rockefeller Performing Arts Award. Heidi Latsky was a principal dancer with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Her choreography has been performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, Boston's Dance Umbrella, and Montreal's Espace Tangente. Her work has been commissioned by the Cannes International Festival de DAnse, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and for Universities, including American University, Connecticut College and Rutgers University. Elizabeth Spatz's Uneven Keel will be presented as will work by Roger William's faculty members Pam Raff, Kathy Gordon Smith, and Gary Shore. |
