About Tango

Tango
There's more than one way to dance the tango!
Tango developed in the late 1800's among the urban poor of Argentina, moved up the social ladder to the upper classes, jumped to Europe and then went onto the United States. Tango continued to evolve in these different areas (and others) so that many differences now exist between American, International and Argentine-style tangos. Argentine Tango is a creative dance based on freedom of expression, movement, and most importantly connecting with another person. American and International styles are more codified, but as with all partner dances, also require a strong partner connection. People have preferences, but the different tangos are all valid, each with their own strengths.
