Trinity Rep is proud to bring Shakespeare’s masterpiece Richard III to the stage for the first time in the theater's 43-year history. A political thriller of epic proportions, Richard III is the definitive portrait of power's seduction and its ultimate price. Resident Director Kevin Moriarty returns to Providence to direct the play after his recent appointment as Artistic Director of the Dallas Theater Center. Trinity Rep favorite Brian McEleney plays the lead role in the tale of the villainous king and his ruthless ascension to the throne. The show opens in previews January 25 and runs through March 2 in Trinity Rep's Chace Theater. The production is part of Shakespeare for a New Generation, a national theater initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts in cooperation with Arts Midwest.
