Festival Ballet Providence Artistic Director Mihailo Djuric announces the Company's 30th Anniversary Season opening in October 2007 and continuing through spring of 2008. The season of 6 productions also marks Djuric's 10th season as the artistic leader of the company. He has chosen a program that celebrates the strength of the company: the talents of the Company dancers, world-class neo-classical masterpieces, refreshing stagings of the great classics and exiting new contemporary works by a stable of young choreographers Mr. Djuric has championed during his tenure in Providence.
Mr. Djuric notes, "I'm celebrating this landmark year with popular repertory that I know will resonate with audiences, but give them the Festival Ballet Providence touch. Our audiences have come to greatly appreciate the unique quality of Festival Ballet Providence productions, and this season will be no different. My esteem for Viktor Plotnikov's work over the years made it a no-brainer to have him create a new Cinderella for the Company, and to revive Coma, which blew our audience away in a program that was complement with outstanding works by Balanchine and Robbins. Based on the high level of last year's performances, the Tudor and De Mille Trusts gave the Company access to their best works. That kind of stature is incredibly gratifying. "
