Open for Dancing is a week-long celebration of historic Newport landscapes and includes classes, lectures, receptions and children's activities. Choreographers Daniel McCusker, Bridgeman/Packer and Amy Ragsdale along with musicians, film makers and visual artists have created new works for the Sunken Garden at the Elms mansion, Rough Point and Ballard Park. Dancers and non-dancers alike are invited to participate in the rehearsal process and performances! Island Moving Co will perform each weekend evening at Fort Adams. Trolleys will be available to transport audience and dancers from one site to another. Tickets and T-shirts may be ordered at OFD ORDER FORM or at 401-847-4470. The Newport Art Museum will host this event. ($10.00 at the door) SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 10am - 1230pm Children's site specific workshop led by Michael Bolger at Ballard Park with a noontime performance for friends and family. Ages 3years thru adult ($25.00) 3pm - 6pm Performances of site specific works at Ballard Park, Rough Point and The Elms. All locations will host performances on the hour and audience will be taken by trolley to each location as well as to the Island Moving Co finale at Fort Adams. ($35.00 button for all site performances and IMC at Fort Adams) 6pm- 8pm Performance of With Shades of Elegant Decorum, winner of IMC's Choreography Competition, by The Island Moving Co. at Fort Adams.
