BE PART OF ISLAND MOVING CO'S INTERACTIVE NUTCRACKER
Island Moving Co. culminates its celebration of twenty years of presenting new dance with a unique look at a holiday classic. Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen, assisted by Company members Eva Marie Pacheco and Michael Bolger, create a holiday dance event, moving dancers and audiences through the sumptuous surroundings of Newport's most romantic mansion. Presented in partnership with the Preservation Society, the Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff will provide an unforgettable holiday experience for the family.
The eight dancers of the Island Moving Co. will engage the audience in a party scene set in the magnificent dining room of the mansion, enact the drama of Clara's dream on the sweeping sweetheart staircase and spin the magic of the Land of the Sweets in Rosecliff's incomparable white ballroom. Accompanied by a children's cast of over fifty ballet students from around the state, the dancers will take full advantage of the stunning surroundings of the mansion. Due to the interactive nature of the ballet, audiences will be kept small and intimate.
The Newport Nutcracker will be performed nine times from November 29th through December 5th for the public, with four schooltime shows December 2 - 5th.
