Newport's Island Moving Co. continues
Flight of Steps - its summer dance series on the Parade Ground at historic Fort Adams- with performances by Arabella Project and Freedman/Coleman Dance
Company on July 30th. The Arabella Project opens the show at 630pm
and alternates with the Freedman/Coleman Dance Company. The Arabella
Project was established to show what forty-something (plus)dancers
could offer to the arts. Their program includes Not So Fast by choreographer
Sharon Jenkins: excerpts from a new work directed by
Sumati Eberstadt using chairs on wheels
to the music of Corelli; The Rooms Etude choreographed by Lorrie May based on Anna Sokolow's 1955 classic, Rooms, and the Ecce Etude an excerpt from Danny Grossman's Ecce Homo, inspired by the paintings and sculptures of Michelangelo.|
Freedman/Coleman Dance Company will be performing two pieces: Surfacing and Family Pictures. Terese Freedman and Jim Coleman are co-artistic directors of the company and are currently Artists-in-Residence at Mt.Holyoke College in Western Massachusetts.
