Providence College Blackfriars Fall Dance Concert
Providence College's Department of Theatre, Dance and Film presents the Blackfriars Dance Concert, to be performed by the Providence College Dance Company on November 30, 2007 and December 1, 2007.
The concert will include works by guest artists Nathan Andary, Caitlin Trainor, and Kellie Lynch, as well as work from resident artists Angelica Vessella and Lindsay Craven, and company director Wendy Oliver.
Mr. Andary is the Artistic Director of Andary Dance, a contemporary company he founded in 2001, based in Providence and performing throughout the Northeast.
Ms. Trainor joins the PC Dance Company from New York. Ms. Lynch, who holds a B.A. in Dance Performance from Rhode Island College and graduated Magna Cum Laude, has set a piece on eight dancers that features cell phones and narrative in dance.
Other works include pieces by resident artist Lindsay Craven, who helped to found and is the artistic director of Salve Regina University's Dance Company, and by Angelica Vessella, who is the director of the Vessella Dance Project and also teaches modern dance at Providence College.
PC Dance Company director Wendy Oliver presents a work featuring folk music and laundry baskets.
Lighting design for the concert will be by Katherine C. Abernathy, whose work at PC includes previous Blackfriars Dance Concerts, Amadeus (2006) and Company (2006).
