The Rhode Island Dance Alliance, the National Dance Education Organization, the American Dance Therapy Association in conjunction with the New England Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association and The Andrea Rizzo Foundation have joined together to offer two workshops on Dance/Movement Therapy designed to increase the understanding of the field by dance movement therapists, dance teachers, senior level dance students, classroom teachers, special educators, dancers, physical educators and health care workers.
The first seminar will take place on Sunday August 19, 2007 from 1pm to 345pm at Salve Regina University in Newport Rhode Island.

After the seminar, you are invited to take part in the 6th annual Walk For The Children, which raises money to provide dance/movement therapy to children with special needs and cancer. The walkathon is a pleasant two mile walk along the famed Newport cliff walk and through the Salve Regina campus followed by refreshments, raffles and entertainment. Christina Devereaux, MA, LCAT, LMHC, ADTR, NCC
is a dance/movement therapist working with children with autism in a public school setting. In addition she works with children who have been witness to or victims of domestic violence. She currently serves on the ADTA Board of
Directors as the Chairperson for the Public Relations Committee. In addidtion, she is completing her doctoral studies in clinical psychology with an emphasis in prenatal and perinatal psychology.
Cathy Lebeaux, MA, LCMHC, ADTR, NCC
Cathy Lebeaux is the President of the New England Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association. Cathy works with children, adolescents and adults and has has taught Dance Movement Therapy Intensives at Antioch New England Graduate School.

Dr. Tortora is a world Renowned Dance/Movement Psychotherapist and author of The Dancing Dialogue: Using The Communicative Power Of Movement With Young Children . She is the head of the Dance Therapy Program at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, which she developed under the aegis of the Andrea Rizzo Foundation.
With over 23 years experience working with individuals at all levels of development, from pregnancy and infancy, through adulthood, Suzi Tortora has become the country's best known dance therapist. She has been profiled on Good Morning America ABC-TV, and interviewed on National Public Radio (NPR).
Dr. Tortora's credentials include ADTR, the advanced level accreditation certification of the American Dance Therapy Association, and she is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst (CMA); a Kestenberg Movement Profiler (KMP) and has studied Body-Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen; authentic movement with Janet Adler, and anatomy, kinesiology and ideokinesis with Irene Dowd.
Andrea Rizzo Dance Therapy Foundation
The Andrea Rizzo Foundation founded and funds the dance therapy program at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the top cancer hospitals in the country. In addition, the Foundation provides dance movement therapy to schools and hospitals throughout Rhode Island and Connecticut.
In addition to increasing employment opportunities for dance movement therapists, the Foundation, in conjunction with Dance Alliance of RI, the American Dance Therapy Association, and the New England Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association National Dance, runs workshops for dance students, educators, dance therapists and allied health workers to learn more about Dance Movement Therapy.
