| Tovah Bodner will perform at Dancestravaganza |

Dazzle your spirits - Open your hearts!
This year's Dancestravaganza continues the tradition of offering work by up and coming choreographers as well as more established performers along with an auction and an after-show party open to the audience as well as the dancers and crew.
Dancestravaganza 2007 will feature work by Tim Rubel, Leslie Pasternak, Joan Merwyn, Tovah Bodner, and The Theatre Expansion.
Timeline
Producing Artistic Director Tim Rubel will present a re-staging of the duet Timeline with choreographer/dancer Nikki Carrara. This dance explores the complexity of friendship as two companions grow older.
Hey Coyote/Transilience
Tim will also present the professional premiere of his new dance Hey Coyote/Transilience. This two part dance examines the emotional and physical similarties between human beings and wild beasts, using the coyote as a central metaphor. Dancers Tovah Bodner (The Robin's Egg), Christen Gedney and Katie Zarlin accompany Rubel in this human/animal study.
DISSENT!
DISSENT! is a physical theater performance piece, questioning the notion of patriotism within the contemporary climate of war in Iraq. Exploring the impact of civilian casualties on an ancient civilization, Joan Merwyn creates haunting and provocative images of the consequences of this war, accompanied by a blazing sound track by Patti Smith.
Wall-To-Wall
A solo work the explores the realm(s?) of reaching, in any & all of its meanings/connotations. Choreographed & performed by artistic director Tovah Bodner to original music composed by Jim Muro.
Good at That
Good at That is an excerpt from a larger work of physical theatre written and performed by Leslie Pasternack. The piece introduces a gentle janitor who takes pride in his (sometimes unsavory) work. This commedia dell'arte-inspired character has romped at Stage Left Studio and in the Estrogenia Sola Voce festival at Manhattan Theatre Source.
Special Hirschfeld Art Auction
Along with cutting edge choreography, Dancestravaganza will also feature two classic renderings by world renowned modern artist, Al Hirschfeld. Hirschfeld is known for his satirical, often outrageous portrayals of 20th century icons that so perfectly capture their personalities. These two works, signed by Hirschfeld himself, will be auctioned off during the reception, following each performance.
There will also be two more surprise pieces auctioned off after each performance. All proceeds will go directly to The Theatre Expansion, so that they can continue to create, develop and present new thought-provoking theatre and dance work.
