The Chorus of Westerly's production of A Celebration of Twelfth Night has been a Westerly tradition since 1975.

The traditional struggle between good and evil and darkness and light is the basis for these mid-winter shows. Twelfth Night in our age is Epiphany, the last of the Twelve Festive Days of Christmas. It is the Feast of Fools when all familiar relationships are reversed, when in the courts of Europe in the Middle Ages a servant could find a bean in his cake and reign for the night as King, and, in the churches, choir boys could celebrate mass as priests. It is a night for the wearing of masks - everybody is somebody else!

This year's, A Celebration of Twelfth Night was written by Harvey Blanchette and produced by Stephanie Sullivan. Randy Judkins and Tom Murphy return as the jesters. Other featured cast includes Jim Lawson, a professional actor from New York City, reprising his role as Father Christmas; and Jean Kopperud, who combines her talents as actress and clarinetist for the benefit of Twelfth Night.

Supporting in the telling of this year's tale will be the 200-voice Chorus of Westerly, the Boston Festival Brass and a cast of one hundred which includes many local actors, dancers and gymnasts.

The colorful, joyful pageant is directed by Derron Wood, Artistic Director of New London's (CT) Flock Theatre, with Robin Rice of North Stonington, CT serving as Choreographer. George Kent, Music Director of the Chorus of Westerly, conducts the program.

Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday performances of A Celebration of Twelfth Night range from $16 - $38, with a limited number of Gold Star Patron seats at $63. The traditional Twelfth Night Peasants' Feast, $14 per person, is served by costumed waiters in the Performance Hall as singers, actors and musicians provide entertainment. Tickets to Friday evening's Preview Performance are general admission for $15.
