The Chorus of Westerly is pleased to announce this year's Peasants' Feast, a traditional component of the Chorus's annual production of A Celebration of Twelfth Night. Performances are on January 13 and 14, 2007 at the Chorus of Westerly's George Kent Performance Hall, 119 High Street, Westerly, Rhode Island at 1, 4 and 8 p.m., with the Peasants' Feast being served at 6 pm both days. Peasants' Feast tickets are $14 and can be purchased through the box office. For more information, call (401) 596-8663 or visit www.chorusofwesterly.org.
Food
The Peasants' Feast menu is rich with traditional flavors with Chef Steve Kitchen's inspiration being medieval banquets.
The meal, which promises to maintain the Chorus of Westerly's reputation for inventive and delicious cuisine, includes slow roasted pork loin with an apricot horseradish glaze, roasted root vegetables and green beans in garlic butter.
A desert of oatmeal chocolate cake will bring the meal to a sweet finish.
Hot wassail is the beverage of choice included with the meal; however, beer, wine and soft drinks are available at a cash bar.
Entertainment
The final ingredient to the Peasants' Feast is live music and entertainment. Served in the Performance Hall between A Celebration of Twelfth Night performances, the meal includes entertainment, continuing the historical authenticity of this Twelfth Night celebration.
This year's Peasants' Feast performers include the Boston Festival Brass, Joan Ceo on Harp, Fiddle music, Bagpipers and a Mummer's Play presented by the Westerly Morris Men and directed by Peter Leibert.
